Our High Priest

Hebrews 1:1-4:16

God at sundry times and divers manners had prophets write, and psalmists sing.
In these last days, speaks by his Son, who made the world; owns everything.

Not just an angel. Consider his name.
The son of God. To earth he came.

He alone is worshipped. His kingdom ceases never.
Creation shall be old and gone, but he continues on forever.

His enemies are his footstool. God's right hand, his rightful station.
If angel's words must be obeyed, don't neglect so great salvation.

The Psalmist marveled, what is man that God would visit him?
God made a body, Jesus Christ that he would live within.

And in that body, "God with us," he died for every man.
A high priest tempted, without sin, according to God's plan.

Now, Moses was a faithful servant, but Jesus is the son.
Hold confident, your faith in him, until this life is done.

Harden not your hearts as Israel did. Read what Moses faithfully penned.
Don't depart from God in unbelief. Hold fast until the end.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as the truth, God let them know.
But they did not believe by faith. The Bible tells us so.

For the word of God is powerful; sharper than a two-edged sword.
It discerns the hearts and intents of men, as God, it turns us toward.

Jesus is our great high priest, made like us in human fashion.
Come boldly to his throne of grace. Find his love and great compassion.
