Follow Jesus Only

1 Corinthians 1:1-4:21

I'm writing this to the Corinthian church, with Sosthenese our brother.
I hear some say I follow Paul, Apollos, or another.

I'm glad I baptized none of you except a tiny few.
So do not say, "I follow Paul." It's Christ who died for you.

The cross may seem too simple. The Jews would have a sign.
The Greeks seek after wisdom. But they're both wrong this time.

Salvation is in Jesus. The simple gospel story.
God brings to naught the things that are. In Jesus only glory.

So I speak, not with wisdom, or as one esteemed and learned.
Eye has not seen. Ear has not heard. This is spiritually discerned.

But there is strife among you. I've fed you milk, not meat.
Don't follow Paul, Apollos. Come sit at Jesus feet.

You're not my temple. You belong to God. His spirit lives within.
God takes the wise in their craftiness. The just don't worship men.

As stewards let's be faithful. I have taught you of our Lord.
As your father in the gospel, take heed unto my word.

For now I'm sending Timothy, but soon I'll come to you.
Let me come and find obedience. What you know is right, that do.
