Matthew 6:5-7:29, Luke 6:37-49

When you give and you pray, do them not to be seen.
That's not the right reason. You know what I mean.

When you pray, pray to God, between you and Him.
Prayer isn't a thing between you and men.

Pray, our Father in Heaven. Holy is your name.
Your will's done in heaven. Let on earth be the same.

Please provide us our food and forgive us our sin.
He says He'll do so, as we forgive men.

Sounds like my favorite, "as we forgive men."
God keeps stressing this precept. He's done so again.

Lead us not to temptation, but keep us from harm.
For you have all power. We are safe in your arm.

And then as he closes His prayer with Amen,
Jesus repeats it. My favorite again.

He says, for if men you fail to forgive,
what you dish out to others, is the way you will live.

Be honest with God, motivated by Him.
Don't do good to show off, for the praises of men.

Put your treasures in heaven, and not on this earth.
Live to please God. Nothing else has more worth.

You can't serve two masters. But you have to choose.
If you seek to serve riches, in the end you will loose.

Don't fear tomorrow. Trust God and His love.
Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.

Jesus says it again, in case that you've missed.
His wonderful promise. It's first on my list.

The way you judge others is how God will judge you.
Now think about that. What would you have God do?

Should He treat you with mercy, or bring you disgrace.
I don't know about you, but I wish for His grace.

First judge yourself before you judge another.
Get that beam from your eye, then the speck from your brother.

Seek and you'll find. Knock to come in.
We do good to our children. We'll get good things from Him.

All the law and the prophets is simple and true.
Do to others as you, would have them do to you.

Beware of false prophets, but how will we know?
Just look at their fruits. You reap what you sow.

Hear my words and obey them. Build your house on the rock.
Godliness is inside. It isn't just talk.

And when Jesus finished, the people could see.
He spoke not as the scribes, but with authority.
