Jesus' Baptism

Matthew 3:1-17, Mark1:1-11
Luke 3:1-38, John 1:1-34

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God.
He made all things that are. Then with us He trod.

He is the life and light. God sent a man named John,
to bear witness of that light, that we may believe upon.

He wore leather and sandals. Ate locust and honey.
Repent of your sins. Don't lust after money.

Don't just say you repent, but act like it too.
Bring forth fruit that is good to prove you are true.

I'm preparing his path. No the Christ is not I.
The shoes of his feet I'm not worthy to untie.

I baptized with water, He with Spirit and fire.
We come from this world. He comes from much higher.

Then came Jesus from Galilee, to be baptized of him.
John said I'm not worthy. You're the one without sin.

Jesus said this should happen, now let it be so.
On the banks of the Jordan, in the water we'll go.

And as Jesus came up from the water, a dove,
lighted upon Him from heaven above.

Then God made it clear, this is My beloved Son.
If ever you've questioned, now you know He's the one.
