Nahum 1:1-3:19

Nahum was a prophet during Judah's darkest days.
Assyria dominated them. This wasn't just a phase.

Their capital was Nineveh. You've heard that name before.
God sent Jonah to that capital. Now we see them here once more.

God is gracious and long suffering, but that doesn't mean He's blind.
He had Jonah preach and warn them. They repented at that time.

But now they had forgotten, how God had shown them grace.
And in Nahum here God warns them. He will put them in their place.

Through them God chastened Israel. He let Nineveh prevail.
But they were cruel and wicked. Now Nineveh would fail.

God called it a bloody city, full of lies, and death and hate.
No more would God send Jonah. Nahum says, it is too late.

I'll make Nineveh a gazingstock. All who look will flee away.
This is Nineveh's destruction. That's all Nahum had to say.
